Introduces Hispanic children's literature using fairy tales, poetry, essays, and drama. Presents the elements of children's narrative: characterization, setting, narrative structure and pictures, and drawings. Students practice working these basic elements in individual and collaborative group writing and reading exercises. Includes brief, written analytic responses.
In this course we got to have a little fun and we got to be more creative and create lesson plans. With Dr. Zielina she lectured and gave us a different perspective on children's literature. We discovered how much the children's literature it plays with teaching and about the kids culture. This course fulfills the MLO 1 and 2 with Language Proficiency and Literary and Cultural Knowledge. One of my favorite things in this class was how we would tell stories and recreate the story using puppets or acting it out. "La Muneca Negra" has to be one of my favorite books that the Professor read us.
I really enjoyed this class because now I can read to my little nephew these incredible stories. I also got to work with some of my classmates on these projects.
